Puerto de la Cruz will once again become one of the key meeting points for Spanish women’s basketball this summer. From July 1 to 12, 2026, Tenerife will host a new edition of SCP College, a camp designed for players born between 2005 and 2009 who want to continue developing both on the court… and in the classroom.
This is not simply about training for several days or taking part in a tournament. Sport Change Project’s proposal goes much further: offering high-level young athletes a genuine pathway towards earning an academic and athletic scholarship in the United States.

A Bridge to American Universities
Sport Change Project does not present itself as a traditional agency, but as a bridge between Spanish talent and the U.S. college system. The project is connected with more than 250 Junior Colleges and American universities, helping players navigate a pathway that can seem quite complex from the outside.
Reaching the NCAA directly is not always easy. According to the programme’s organisers, for between 80% and 90% of Spanish players, the most realistic route begins at a Junior College.
Why? Because these institutions give athletes the chance to adapt to the language, improve academically and compete in a demanding environment before attempting to move on to an NCAA university. Step by step, without rushing… but always moving forward.
Elite Experience at the Players’ Service
One of the main attractions of SCP College 2026 will be its coaching staff. Leading the programme will be Ángel G. Jareño, a coach with more than 45 years of experience in elite basketball, including time with Real Madrid’s coaching staff and Spain’s national youth teams.
He will be joined by Ángel Sanz, the project’s Managing Director, who has first-hand knowledge of U.S. college basketball through his experience at the University of Houston.
That combination of technical expertise and direct experience within the American system could make a real difference. Playing well is not enough; athletes also need to understand how the recruitment process works, what universities are looking for and which destination may be the right fit for each player.
Personalised Work and Intensive Training
The camp will have one coach for every six players. This highly reduced ratio will allow for close monitoring, position-specific work and detailed individual corrections.
Sometimes, improvement does not come from completing another hundred repetitions. It comes from understanding a decision more clearly: when to pass, how to recognise an advantage or when to attack the basket.
The participants will stay at Hotel Skyview on an all-inclusive basis, with official training sessions beginning on July 2. Over ten days, they will experience a camp structure similar to a national team training programme, combining high standards, group living and competitive preparation.
A Showcase for U.S. College Scouts
The most eagerly awaited moment will arrive on July 10 and 11 with the final showcase. The players will compete in a 4-on-4 tournament officiated by professional referees and broadcast via streaming.
This format will allow scouts and representatives from American universities to observe the participants in real game situations. Points and statistics will not be the only factors that matter. Game awareness, defence, communication, attitude and the ability to perform under pressure will also be assessed.
In addition, every player will receive an SCP report after the camp, including an individual evaluation and guidance on how to continue improving.
Only 48 Places Available
SCP College 2026 will be an invitational event limited to just 48 players. This small number reflects the programme’s commitment to providing personalised attention and genuine visibility for every participant.
In an environment where many young athletes dream of studying and competing in the United States, having access to reliable information and professional guidance can be decisive.
For twelve days, Tenerife will be much more than a training venue. It will become a meeting point for talent, education and opportunity. A bridge to U.S. college basketball… and perhaps the beginning of a new chapter for many players.
