Frequently
asked questions
Everything you need to know before making a decision.
No jargon. No fine print.
You are the ones who negotiate directly with the university. Sport Change Project evaluates your daughter, connects her with the right institution, and puts you in touch. From that point on, the decision and the negotiation are yours.
What Sport Change Project does and doesn't do
Before answering specific questions, it is important to be clear about the scope of what we do. Many doubts disappear once the model is properly understood.
What we do
We evaluate your daughter’s athletic level, select her for the Showcase, and connect the interested institution directly with you.
Your role
You are the ones who negotiate the scholarship, the terms, and the conditions directly with the American university. The final decision is always yours.
What we don't do
We do not handle visas, prepare academic dossiers, negotiate contracts, or provide personal accompaniment during your daughter’s stay in the US.
What families ask us most
How does it all start?
Your daughter signs up for the development camp. Ángel Jareño evaluates her in person. If her profile fits, she moves on to the Showcase where American scouts and universities watch her compete live.
How long does the process take from camp to offer?
It depends on each case. It can range from weeks to several months. There is no guaranteed resolution date, but we work with urgency and clarity at every stage.
What happens if your daughter receives no offer after the Showcase?
We tell you directly. The development camp has training value regardless of the outcome. Honesty is part of the process.
Does the scholarship cover all expenses?
It depends on the institution and the specific offer. Some scholarships cover tuition, housing, and meals. Others cover only tuition. The details are negotiated directly with the university.
Are there additional costs the family must cover?
Possibly yes: flights, health insurance, personal expenses, sports equipment. Each university has different conditions. It is essential to read the offer terms carefully before accepting.
Does Sport Change Project charge the family anything?
The cost to the family is the development camp registration fee. We do not charge commission on the scholarship or intervene in the financial negotiation with the university.
Who looks after your daughter once she is in the US?
The university is responsible for the wellbeing of its players within the program. Sport Change Project does not offer personal accompaniment during the stay. It is important to agree with the institution on what support they provide before signing.
Does she need to speak English before going?
A basic functional level helps a lot, but it is not an absolute requirement for the first year at Junior College. Many institutions offer language support. The willingness to learn matters more than the starting level.
How is the visa handled?
The student visa (F-1) is processed by the university once the offer is accepted. It is a standard process that the American institution knows well and will guide you through directly.
