How the
process works
The path to an American university doesn’t start where you think. For most Spanish players, it starts at a Junior College.
Junior College is not the backup plan. It is the real path. The vast majority of Spanish players have more options, more scholarships, and better chances of success entering through a Junior College than trying to reach an NCAA Division I program directly.
Three steps. No unnecessary middlemen.
Real evaluation
Development camp
Ángel Jareño personally supervises every camp. Over the course of several days, we assess technical level, physical condition, and competitive mentality. The goal is not to find the best players — it’s to identify which players are ready for the American system and through which path. Most will go to Junior College. A few will go directly to NCAA. That determination happens here.
Who can apply? Spanish players with a federated competition background, aged 16 to 22, willing to study and compete in English.
Direct connection
The university/COLLEGE contacts your family
When a program is interested, Sport Change Project connects the institution directly with the player’s parents or representatives. The negotiation happens between them. We are the sports bridge. We do not handle visas, contracts, or personal accompaniment. Those details are handled by the family and the American institution directly.
Full transparency: We do not charge commissions to universities or intervene in scholarship negotiations.
The real path for 80% of players
Going directly from Spain to an NCAA Division I program is possible — but exceptional. Junior College is the structured route that works for the majority: two years to adapt to the American system, on scholarship, competing at a strong level, with the door open to transfer to a four-year university afterward.
Years of real adaptation
Time to adjust to English, to the academic system, and to the pace of American competition before stepping up to NCAA.
Junior Colleges contacted
Our active network of institutions actively recruiting international talent. More real options than any conventional agency.
Transfer Portal risk without guidance
70% of players who entered the Transfer Portal last year lost their scholarship. Knowing the system before using it makes all the difference.
The final destination
From Junior College, transferring to a four-year NCAA university is the natural next step. Two years of game time completely changes your recruiting profile.
What players ask us most
Is Junior College a lesser option than NCAA?
No. It’s a different path — and for most Spanish players, a more realistic and effective one. It allows you to adapt to the American system before competing at the highest collegiate level.
What level do I need to join the camp?
A federated competition background in Spain and consistent playing time. You don’t need to have played in Liga Femenina. We evaluate potential and attitude, not just your resume.
What happens if no university makes an offer?
The process is honest. If there’s no interest after the Showcase, we tell you directly. The development camp has genuine training value on its own.
Does Sport Change Project handle the scholarship and visa?
No. Our role is sports evaluation and connecting you with the right university. The scholarship, visa, and relocation are handled by your family and the American institution.
